Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student Vito Tinio (9-Garnet) delivered a breakthrough performance at the World Grand Prix #1 (WGP#1) Waterjet Pro Tour Thailand 2025, held from August 15 to 17 in Phayao, Thailand.
Racing in the Junior 13–15 Runabout 1100 Stock category, Tinio outpaced nine competitors from Thailand and Laos to capture the Round 4 championship cr.
His strong finish also secured him second place in the overall series standings, further raising the country’s profile in the international jet ski community.
The competition, staged at Kwan Phayao in Mueang District, drew more than 130 athletes from 45 teams representing Thailand and neighboring nations. The tour is widely regarded as one of Asia’s premier jet ski racing circuits, attracting top young riders and seasoned professionals alike.
Reports from organizers noted that Tinio’s preparation for the event was extensive. He trained for several months in Subic, Philippines, under the guidance of Coach BJ Ang, honing his speed, endurance, and race strategies.

With the championship under his belt, Tinio now looks ahead to international waters. His next target is the prestigious Jet Ski World Series, which holds races in Europe, Japan, and the United States.
